Kitei MD Nearly 13 years since the largest mass UFO sighting known as The Phoenix Lights, researcher Dr. Lynne Kitei shared her astonishing eyewitness testimony of the incident, as well as talked about similar sightings leading up to the March 1997 event. One such encounter occurred in 1995, when Kitei says three amber-colored orbs in a triangle formation hovered above her community in the desert. Kitei recalled an eerie silence falling over the neighborhood, the topmost orb slowly fading from view, and the feeling that an intelligent presence was watching her. Kitei snapped photos of the orbs she saw that night and sent them (some years later) to be examined by Dr. Bruce Maccabee, a former US Navy optical physicist. Noticing how the skyline lights changed in the pictures, Maccabee determined that at least an hour, if not more, had passed between the first and last shots. Kitei said she remembered the sighting taking only a few minutes and believes the photographs offer proof of ‘missing time.’ Two years later, in January 1997, she had another sighting. Retired Colonel Robert B. Willingham says he visited the site of a crashed UFO in 1955 near Del Rio, Texas, where he saw the bodies of three non-human entities inside the ruptured hull of the ship. In this segment from a radio interview with Jeff Rense from March 8, 2010, the 84-year old explains what he saw at the crash site and what the bodies looked like.

There is a certain sense of stability in the physical world that most of us take for granted. However, in the current realm of UFO abduction literature, the term ‘physical world’ may need some redefinition. UFO abductees have found their world stretched and distorted in a way that defies modern science. Testimony from abductees now includes levitation, paralysis, telepathy, and startling visions. To ignore these reports is to ignore the vast amount of evidence that seems to be mounting from many personal accounts. To accept these reports blindly, however, is to accept data whose source is testimony from hypnosis, vague memories, and spontaneous recall. Are abductees really levitating out of their beds at night, floating up to a hovering UFO, and being subjected to physical examinations? Perhaps this question can be answered by looking closer at abductee’s testimony.

In the last decade, UFO abduction researchers Budd Hopkins and Whitley Strieber have strongly promoted the notion of physical abductions as a norm for UFO contact with humans. However, from a published article in UFO Magazine (Vol. 4, Num. 4), researcher Ann Druffel offered a new perspective on the abduction phenomena. This perspective altered the focus of an abduction from something physical to something within the mind. Ann Druffel, in her book ‘The Tujunga Canyon Contacts’, tells of hypnotic regression of a particular abductee named Emily who ‘learned that if she could manage to move even one toe or finger, the paralysis broke and the creatures vanished.’ The article goes on to report that Emily could use mental effort to wake her roommate and also break the abduction paralysis. In another case Ms. Druffel notes that the abductee was able to break out of the ‘contact’ by making a sound or mantra within herself.

Breaking out of the alleged abduction by shear force of will is just one clue of its non physical nature. Are there others? Looking at the varied testimony of abductees, one gets the sense of the lack of coincidence from report to report. One person stated that she was transported through her apartment wall. While others feel the abductors take them ‘by hand’ into waiting UFO’s. Whitley Strieber, in his book ‘Transformation’, writes about his attempts at astral travel and the similarity of that experience to his abductions. He also notes the strangeness factor of abduction reports from his article in UFO Magazine (Vol 4, Num 2). Strieber writes, ‘Of the 690 narratives sent to me by Communion and Transformation readers, only a few appear to support these present theories of abduction. The vast majority instead describe perceptions and experiences far stranger than any reported by mainstream abduction researchers.’ Another UFO researcher, Richard Grossinger, writes of the inability of contactees to distinguish between the concrete or real and the psychic or hallucinatory. He suggests that we may be dealing with both levels of reality thereby creating the current paradox of conflicting abduction testimonies.

Before the ‘Communion’ and ‘Intruders’ phenomenon, astrophysicist and UFO researcher Jacques Vallee cautioned the conception of UFO’s as being something truly physical. Vallee’s position is that individual and social psychological manipulation of UFO contactees may not be extraterrestrial at all but encounters with another reality. He suggests that the intelligence community worldwide is probably ‘in the dark’ about most aspects of the UFO phenomena. On the MJ-12 document he writes, ‘Given the names on the list of MJ-12 scientists, however, it seems to me their work could have had an entirely different orientation, having to do with psychological warfare. I scratched the surface of that issue in ‘Messengers of Deception’, and I got burned because the UFO research community was not ready to even consider that side of the problem’. Now that the verdict is out on the MJ-12 documents with Bill Moore’s revelation of planted information, Dr. Vallee’s comments seem much more potent.

In his book ‘Dimensions’, Dr. Vallee strongly emphasizes the psychological nature of UFO encounters. His research has shown that historically, UFO encounters have been perceived to be the common myths of the time period such as the miracle at Fatima, Portugal in 1917. ‘The events at Fatima involve luminous spheres, lights with strange colors, a feeling of ‘heat waves’-all physical characteristics commonly associated with UFOs. They also encompass prophecy and a loss of ordinary consciousness on the part of witnesses – what we have called the psychic component of UFO sightings’ (p 174). Dr. Vallee even implies that much of human history may have been shaped by the psychological effects of UFO encounters and that the shape may have a purpose.

Extraterrestrial or not, it seems that abductions by UFOs are much more psychological in nature than physical. Yet the common belief is in physical contact! Is this what we are meant to believe?

I met Vienna Girardi, the winner of this season’s The Bachelor on a plane from Orlando to Denver on 25 Feb 2010. We sat next to each other and we talked for almost 4 hours about a variety of subjects including ufos, aliens, close encounters, abductions, and much more. She told me some very interesting things about her own encounter with an alien being. Vienna is a very interesting person and I enjoyed every minute we shared on that plane. Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi are now engaged, and I wish Vienna all the best for a happy life. I’m very glad our paths crossed and we shared such good conversation. Vienna Girardi is an awesome lady!

I call myself a “Sycomber” since the day not far away  when I caught what looked like a UFO with my new digital camera. As a good skycomber, I filed a report. I was excited, finally, I had caught a UFO, that was my UFO!  I even placed the words “MY UFO” below the copyright notice of  the cropped picture, long before I decided It  was going to be published as a UFO sighting, It had been taking photos for around two years— I had been using my digital camera to comb the patch of sky I had a view from my patio, but I had never seen anything at all. I was really doing it as a discipline, day in and day out, and I produced lots of photos that I would discard as useless. This hobby had become a good way to kill time but no more.

Until March 17,2009. I had acquired a new camera with possibilities of 14 MP pictures and I had been taking photos with  her for about 2 to 3 weeks with no results. That day, when I downloaded the photos I found something  very sharp in one of the corners. I  zoomed in and,  voila!!! There was what looked like a UFO. With trembling fingers I made crops at 100, 200 and 400x and filed a sighting report. I later made a 20″ x 30″ print that I have hanging in my home office wall.

I continued looking for UFO reports and shooting, combing my sky, and I kept seeing things. What intrigued me was that I kept seeing more and more of these things, which did not seem logical. My method  of operation was random, I did not want to favor any place, any hour, any day. I sometimes even shot my camera without looking at the sky… I decided that I had too many occurrences of UFOs and thought, they most be birds. And I was not too far from the truth.

My current method is to look for birds in the afternoon and/or morning and shoot at them, in order to create what I hope to be a big database of false UFOs created by birds in flight. It has helped  me to understand the different forms and shapes they  appear to take and to see how deceiving they can be when they look like cigar shaped UFOs, triangular and oval UFOs, shiny metallic-looking UFOs; you name them, I have them in file.

Of course this was disheartening for I am a UFO enthusiast and seeker.I am always checking the sky and I always carry a digital camera with me.

I have a system to file them in folders by date, keeping the originals intact and making crops of the interesting ones at 100, 200 and sometimes at 400X if the objects are too far away.

Most of all when I am shooting at birds  I am aware that that is all I want to capture. When I am looking for UFOs I make sure I don’t see birds around. If they happen to be in the photo is because they came in after I raised the camera to shoot, they are inconveniences. I want a  clean background sky when I catch one.

It is my estimate that UFOs will appear when the conditions are right.–for them. Lots of clouds, chem-trails and diversions for humans should be present in the sky so we don’t focus on them. I comb the sky so I don’t see any birds, they will create false positives . Using this method,   which I carry  parallel to the birds baseline project I hope to catch a good UFO  with my digital camera, one lucky day. As a matter of fact I have several photos in which I think I have caught UFOs and will send them for analysis when I find a reliable investigator and I have enough of them.

In my camera, I usually use the multiple shots feature so I can shoot consecutively  on an area to detect any movement of any object I may happen to capture and correlate it to time. That information and more is available from the EXIF data of the pictures.  I don’t use flash since at these distances it is of no benefit. I try to use a combination of camera settings that will help freeze any moment and I tend to minimize my hand shake so it does not affect the quality of the final picture.

I have decided on a 9 mega pixel size –although I can use a higher pixel count– because with higher sizes saving the photos to disk takes too long and it hinders the ability of the camera to take too many pictures one after the other. There is a lag between picture saves that is not healthy.  Taking photos at low light will create too many artifacts so it is better to work when there is still enough light for the pictures to come clear  using a fast enough shutter speed. It will all depend of your camera’s capabilities, so I recommend, for those interested in combing the sky for UFOs, that you get the best camera that you can afford, and that is not necessarily the one with the highest pixel count. 

The camera should be flexible to setup speed and aperture. Having  the consecutive pictures feature is a nice thing to have and been able to use it for long periods of time without straining your hand is another, so it should be light. Easy access to the features will help you change the  settings when the conditions require it. Sometimes I  have been waiting for birds to appear in the horizon for one or two hours, camera in hand, because believe me or not, they are fast!

I never change anything on a picture after or before I crop. I make a crop and “save as” another file name so I keep the original.  I don’t use brightness, contrast, color adjustments; no external manipulation other than adding my copyright notice and date. That way I keep all photos as original as I can. Crops are for diplay, originals for analysis. The originals are the 9 MP photos which still will have the date and time of the event and other information as needed.

The best thing to keep in mind is  not to be over expecting and trying to be the  strongest critic of your own work. That is the only way we can produce good work and reliable photos we can count on. An open mind. I don’t mind saying anywhere that I think that what I see in my photos is produced by a flying bird or an airplane. There are thousands of photos like mine in the Internet purporting to be UFOs, taken in worst conditions than mine and looking less than UFOs than mine. I  want to seek the truth and be honest with my photography. It is a great hobby and I think it can one day bring greater satisfactions.   I post some of my photos in a twitpic account and I keep looking at any site that I find that posts photos of UFOs as a reference, to validate my findings, to enjoy other people’s work and hoping to find  a singularity. In this case the word  “singularity”  has nothing to do with physics, it will be a great photo of a UFO that will blow my mind and everyone else’s.
